I'll Give Him My Heart

What can I give him
Poor as I am
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb
And if I were a wise man
I would do my part
Yet what can I give Him
Give Him my heart

I am touched by these words of an older Christmas carol called "In the Bleak Midwinter". It's one of my favorites but I never studied them as closely as I have this Christmas.

The passage of lyrics that I chose certainly paint a vivid picture of how the songwriter thought of our relationship with God. The only problem is that we don't any thought to giving anything to God. Sure, we give to the salvation army bucket in front of  the department store and give gifts to each other but little thought goes into giving back to God. When I was younger, my theatre teacher told us to imagine that it was our birthday and no one bothered to give you any special attention. In our consumeristic attitudes we don't think about giving our gifts he's blessed us with back to him. Maybe He's calling you to give something up in order to be closer to him. He could be calling you to spend more quiet time with him in the coming year.
It is time for this generation to understand that but live in a lifestyle that we give regularly back to God.
So what can you give God this Christmas? Give him your heart!

My Introduction

From the popular words of Rodgers and Hammerstein I'm going to start at the beginning because it is a very good place to start!

My name is Mary Hanna. I am in my second year in high school and I am currently home schooled. I love being home schooled.   It has opened many doors that would otherwise not be opened if I was in public school.

My friends call me a hipster because my favorite music, movies, books etc. are all vintage. I love all things British and there is nothing that I like better than to sit, read, and drink a cup of earl grey.

I have a passion for politics takes over my life most of the time. I'm usually all over the state of NC to one political event to the next.  I like being busy and when I'm not, there is something wrong.

I am a sinner and it us by the grace of God that I live everyday. I am nothing but a lost girl looking for her father trying to seek and find him in all things.

So that's my introduction in a nutshell! Hope you enjoy my posts!
